Biography 

Susan Brown is the Director of Franklin County Child Support Enforcement Agency, overseeing 267 employees who manage a caseload of 68,000+ and collections of over $168 million per year in child support payments. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Legal Studies from Marshall University after serving in the U.S. Army as a Military Police Officer.

She attended Capital University Law School and earned her Juris Doctor Degree and gained admission to the Ohio Bar in January 1993. Susan operated a private law practice focused on family law and criminal defense work for several years. In May 1997, her child support career took off when she stepped into the Director position of Lawrence County Ohio Child Support Enforcement Agency. Prior to coming to Columbus, Susan also directed the Athens and Delaware County Child Support programs. Susan is a Commissioner and current Secretary for the Ohio Commission on Fatherhood and has served on the Executive Board of the Ohio Child Support Director’s Association. She chairs the Association’s Ohio Works Committee, a group committed to improving parent workforce services within the child support program. Susan has been a strong advocate for person-centered case management across all service delivery programming. Her passion for this philosophy lies in the essence that each individual faces a unique set of barriers, calling for an individualized plan and treatment.

Emphasis on superior customer service and treating clients as a partner, not a case number, has allowed her to shape Franklin County CSEA into a leader of its field.
